Front: Anak Gunung Krakatau (Child of Krakatoa), the volcanic island that emerged in the caldera created by the catastrophic 1883 eruption of Krakatoa in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra. The volcano has been continuously active since 1927 and represents Indonesia's dramatic volcanic geology. Back: Tjut Meutia (c. 1870–1910), Acehnese guerrilla leader and national heroine who fought against Dutch colonial forces during the Aceh War.
