Where & when
What's on the note
Front: The front of this note is extremely faded and obscured, showing only traces of the original design. Based on the back and the series identification, this note would have featured Tuanku Abdul Rahman (1895–1960), the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Supreme Head) of independent Malaya and Malaysia, who reigned 1957–1960. He was the Sultan of Negeri Sembilan and a key figure in Malaysian independence.
Back: Tuanku Abdul Rahman wearing traditional Malay royal regalia including an elaborate songkok (headgear) with ornate decorative elements. The design incorporates cultural symbols including the wau bulan (traditional moon kite), a distinctive Malaysian craft form from the east coast states, particularly Kelantan. Text 'BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA' runs vertically on the left, 'SATU RINGGIT' on the right, with 'WANG KERTAS' and 'DIPER INCHI' inscriptions. Signature of the Gabenor (Governor) Dato Aziz appears below the portrait.

Background & history
This is a 1 Ringgit note from Bank Negara Malaysia's third series, issued 1982–1983 and designed by British printer Bradbury Wilkinson. The series featured Malaysia's first Yang di-Pertuan Agong on all denominations. The note was demonetized in 1999 when Bank Negara Malaysia ceased to honor pre-1982 and early 1980s series notes. The front image shows severe fading and deterioration making most design elements illegible; only the back retains sufficient detail for positive identification. The signature appears to be that of Dato Jaafar Hussein or Tan Sri Dato' Aziz Taha, both of whom served as Governor during the 1980s. Without a visible serial number or printed date, precise dating within the 1982–1983 issue window cannot be determined.

How it came to me
Front shows extreme fading, discoloration, and near-complete loss of printed detail. Back retains better detail but shows circulation wear, staining, and age-related degradation. Note appears heavily used with significant handling damage.
