Background & history
This note appears to be a modern Malaysian 2 ringgit note mismatched with a historical 1959 1 dollar note from the Board of Commissioners of Currency, Malaya and British Borneo. The front image shows modern Malaysian currency (RM 2) with serial BX4477070, featuring the Kuala Lumpur Tower which was completed in 1994, making this a 1990s or later issue. The back image shows a completely different note: a 1 dollar note dated 1st March 1959, serial A/48 065894, issued by the Board of Commissioners of Currency for Malaya and British Borneo. This currency board operated from 1952 to 1967, issuing common currency for Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak, North Borneo (Sabah), and Brunei. The 1959 note was printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London, as indicated on the note. These are definitively NOT the front and back of the same banknote - they are from entirely different eras and issuers.
