Where & when
What's on the note
Front: Damdin Sükhbaatar (1893–1923), Mongolian revolutionary hero and founding father of modern Mongolia. He was the leader of the Mongolian People's Revolution of 1921 that liberated Mongolia from Chinese occupation and established the Mongolian People's Republic. Sükhbaatar is one of the most revered national heroes of Mongolia and his portrait has appeared on virtually every denomination of Mongolian currency since the 1920s. The front also displays the denomination '10' within an ornamental rosette and the text 'АРВАН ТӨГРӨГ' (Arvan Tögrög, 'Ten Tögrög') vertically on the left and right margins.
Back: Ornamental snow lion (arslan), a mythological creature in Mongolian Buddhist tradition symbolizing fearlessness and unconditional cheerfulness. The snow lion is an important emblem in Mongolian heraldry and culture, representing the Buddhist heritage and spiritual strength of the nation. The design features the lion within a circular medallion, rendered in traditional Mongolian decorative style. The Mongolian script text reads the denomination in traditional Mongolian vertical script.

Background & history
This note is from the first post-socialist series of Mongolian currency issued following Mongolia's democratic revolution in 1990. The series was introduced in 1993 as part of Mongolia's economic transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy. The 1993 series retained the portrait of Sükhbaatar, linking the new democratic era to Mongolia's revolutionary independence heritage while introducing new designs and security features. This series was in circulation until approximately 2000 when a new series was introduced. The denomination is relatively low-value and was common in everyday circulation during the 1990s. Serial number format 'AE6375929' follows the standard prefix-numeric pattern used by the Bank of Mongolia for this series, with no documented encoding of issue year within the serial number itself.
