What's on the note
Front: The Parliament building in Dushanbe (Majlisi Oli), seat of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan, shown within an ornamental frame topped by the national flag with its red, white, and green horizontal stripes and crown emblem. The building served as the main legislative structure after Tajikistan's independence in 1991. Text in Tajik and Russian identifies the issuing authority.
Back: The coat of arms of Tajikistan, adopted after independence in 1992, featuring a crown, cotton bolls, wheat stalks, mountains representing the Pamir range, an open book symbolizing knowledge, and a rising sun with rays—all elements representing the nation's agricultural heritage, natural resources, and aspirations. The denomination '100 рубл' (100 rubles) appears at center, with the year 1994 printed at right.

Background & history
The Tajikistani Ruble was introduced in May 1995 as the first national currency following independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, though this note bears the 1994 series date. It replaced the Soviet Ruble and circulated during a period of severe civil war (1992–1997) and hyperinflation. The currency was issued by the National Bank of Tajikistan (Бонки миллии Чумҳурии Тоҷикистон). Due to devastating inflation, the Ruble was replaced by the Somoni in October 2000 at a rate of 1 Somoni = 1000 Rubles. This 1 Ruble note is from the first series of independent Tajikistan's currency and represents the transition period from Soviet to independent monetary systems. Text appears in both Cyrillic Tajik and Russian, reflecting the multilingual nature of the newly independent republic.
