Color palette #d4c5a8,#2f5f4f,#1a1a1a
Themes architecture
Language / script Latin, Hangul

Front: The front displays the text 'RESERVE BANK OF ZIMBABWE' above a vignette showing a modernist city skyline with high-rise buildings and the Zimbabwe Bird monument (national emblem) in the foreground. The denomination '25000000' appears in green at upper left and lower right. However, this design element appears incongruous with the reverse, which bears Korean text and imagery.

Back: Namdaemun (Sungnyemun Gate, 숭례문), the historic southern gate of Seoul, originally built in 1398 during the Joseon Dynasty as part of the city's fortress walls. The gate is one of Korea's most important cultural properties and national treasures. Korean text '한국은행' (Bank of Korea) appears at top center, with '오백원' (500 won) prominently displayed at center, and the denomination '500' in corners. Serial number 가300598334 is visible.

The story

Background & history

This appears to be a mismatched pair of banknote images. The front image shows a Zimbabwe hyperinflation-era note (likely from 2008 during the period when Zimbabwe issued notes with denominations reaching into the trillions) marked as 25,000,000 (likely Zimbabwe dollars). The reverse image is clearly a South Korean 500 won banknote featuring Namdaemun Gate, from a series issued by the Bank of Korea. The two images do not belong to the same banknote. The Korean note appears to be from an older series (pre-2000s based on design style), while the Zimbabwe note is from the 2006-2009 hyperinflation period.
