What's on the note
Front: Georgi Dimitrov (1882–1949), Bulgarian communist leader who served as General Secretary of the Bulgarian Communist Party and Prime Minister of Bulgaria from 1946 until his death. Previously General Secretary of the Communist International (Comintern) from 1935 to 1943, he is honoured on this note as the founder of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. The note features the state emblem of the People's Republic of Bulgaria with the characteristic lion rampant within a wreath, topped by a red star, alongside ornate guilloche patterns and denomination in Cyrillic 'ДВЕСТА ЛЕВА' (200 leva).
Back: Agricultural harvest scene depicting a Bulgarian woman gathering wheat sheaves, with baskets of grain and mountains in the background. This imagery represents the socialist emphasis on agricultural collectivization and productivity during the early years of the People's Republic. The denomination appears as 'ДВЕСТА ЛЕВА' (200 leva) with the inscription 'Българска Народна Банка' (Bulgarian National Bank) above.

Background & history
The 1951 series was issued during the early period of communist rule in Bulgaria under Georgi Dimitrov and his successors. These notes featured prominent communist leaders and themes glorifying agricultural and industrial labor. The lev underwent currency reforms in 1952 and 1962, with this issue being replaced during the 1962 reform at a rate of 10:1. Notes from this series are relatively scarce today as most were withdrawn and destroyed during the currency reform.
