Front

Přemysl Otakar I (c. 1155–1230), King of Bohemia from 1198 to 1230, who secured the hereditary right of the Přemyslid dynasty to the Bohemian throne and obtained the Golden Bull of Sicily in 1212, making Bohemia a kingdom within the Holy Roman Empire. His reign marked a significant expansion of royal power and territorial consolidation. The note features the royal seal of Přemysl Otakar I at center left, showing the enthroned king.

Back

The St. Wenceslas Crown (Czech Crown Jewels), the coronation crown of Bohemian kings commissioned by Charles IV in 1346 for his coronation, featuring a cross at its apex and decorated with precious stones. The crown is shown alongside the Czech coat of arms displaying the quartered shield with the Bohemian lion, Moravian eagle, and Silesian eagle. The crown jewels are kept in St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle.

History

This note belongs to the first series of Czech koruna banknotes issued following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia on January 1, 1993, and the establishment of the independent Czech Republic. The 1994-dated issue was part of the initial currency system that replaced the Czechoslovak koruna. These notes were withdrawn from circulation in 2008 and replaced by a newer series with enhanced security features. The denomination depicts medieval Czech rulers and symbols, emphasizing historical continuity and national identity.
