Front
Queen Elizabeth II, monarch of the United Kingdom and Head of State of the Eastern Caribbean States. The note features her official portrait wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara and a pearl necklace. The design incorporates Caribbean marine life including a sea turtle, tropical fish, and coral reef imagery, reflecting the region's natural maritime heritage. The denomination is prominently displayed with the text 'EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK' and the legal tender statement.
Back
Admiral's House in Antigua and Barbuda, a historic Georgian colonial building constructed in the 1780s that served as the offices and residence for senior officers of the Royal Navy Dockyard; and Trafalgar Falls in Dominica (noted as 'W1048'1' and '332N 6021'), a twin waterfall system located in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The back also features a map showing the member territories of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank: Anguilla, St. Christopher & Nevis, Antigua & Barbuda, Montserrat, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, and Grenada.
History
The Eastern Caribbean dollar is the official currency of eight member states of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), managed by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank headquartered in Saint Kitts and Nevis. This banknote series was introduced in 1993 and continues in circulation, maintaining the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II across all denominations. The currency has been pegged to the US dollar at 2.70 XCD = 1 USD since 1976. Governor K. Dwight Venner served from 1989 to 2015, making him one of the longest-serving central bank governors in the world. The design celebrates the shared cultural heritage and natural beauty of the Eastern Caribbean region.
