Front

Indonesian female farmer working in rice fields with agricultural tools. The scene represents Indonesia's agrarian economy and the importance of rice cultivation to the nation's food security and cultural identity. The denomination shown is 2½ rupiah from 1961, issued by Republik Indonesia during the early post-independence period.

Back

General Soedirman (1916–1950), the first commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and a national hero of Indonesia. He led guerrilla warfare against Dutch forces during the Indonesian National Revolution (1945–1949) despite suffering from tuberculosis. He is revered as a symbol of dedication, sacrifice, and military leadership during Indonesia's struggle for independence. This portrait appears on the 1000 rupiah note dated 1980.

History

These images show two different Indonesian banknotes from different eras and denominations. The front shows a 2½ rupiah note from 1961, part of Indonesia's early post-independence currency issues under President Sukarno. The reverse shows a 1000 rupiah note from 1980, issued during President Suharto's New Order period. The pairing of these two different notes is unusual and suggests they are not the front and back of the same banknote, but rather two separate notes photographed together or misidentified as obverse and reverse.
