Overprinted specimen note marked 'PROLETARYAT ORGAN MIEDZZYNARODOWEJ SOCYALNO-REVOLUCYJNEJ PARTYI' with red diagonal overprint band. The front displays the standard 100 złotych design of the 1988 series issued by Narodowy Bank Polski during the communist period, featuring denomination numerals and decorative elements in coral and brown tones.

Stanisław I Leszczyński (1677–1766), King of Poland twice (1704–1709 and 1733–1736) and Duke of Lorraine. A significant figure in Polish and European history, he was backed by Charles XII of Sweden in his first reign and by France in his second; after abdication he became a renowned patron of Enlightenment thought. The portrait shows him in profile wearing an ornate cap with decorative patterns, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The back is dated 'WARSZAWA 5 STYCZNIA 2012 r.' with signatures of 'PREZES' and 'GŁÓWNY SKARBNIK', and serial number AL2376697.

History

This is a specimen/propaganda overprint of a Polish 100 złotych note from 1988 (Pick 143e), near the end of the communist People's Republic of Poland era (1952–1989). The base note belongs to the 1986–1988 series of the fourth złoty (1950–1994), which suffered severe hyperinflation in the late 1980s. The red diagonal overprint 'PROLETARYAT ORGAN MIEDZZYNARODOWEJ SOCYALNO-REVOLUCYJNEJ PARTYI' (Proletariat Organ of the International Social-Revolutionary Party) suggests this was a propaganda piece or commemorative overprint, possibly related to historical Polish socialist movements of the late 19th/early 20th century. The Proletariat party was a Polish socialist organization active 1882–1886. The actual back image, however, shows a modern 2012-dated 100 złotych note (redenominated new złoty, PLN), creating a temporal mismatch—the front appears to be the 1988 series with propaganda overprint, while the back is from the current Polish series introduced in 1994 and redesigned through 2012. This indicates mismatched images or a composite specimen. The 1988-series 100 złotych was demonetized when Poland redenominated 10,000:1 in 1995, replacing the old złoty (PLZ) with new złoty (PLN).
