Front

The Seychelles coat of arms featuring a sailboat, palm tree, and turtle beneath a helmet and mantling, with the national motto 'Finis Coronat Opus' ('The End Crowns the Work'). The coat of arms was adopted in 1976 upon independence and represents the nation's maritime heritage, natural beauty, and biodiversity. The front bears the text in Serbian Cyrillic script '10 десетарија десет' and inscriptions indicating 'Beograd godina 2013' (Belgrade year 2013) and 'Guverner' (Governor). This is the 2013 series design with enhanced security features including a holographic patch and windowed security thread.

Back

The Coco de mer palm (Lodoicea maldivica), an endemic species found only in Seychelles that produces the world's largest seed, shown with its distinctive fan-shaped fronds and nut. The hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), a critically endangered species that nests on Seychelles beaches, appears in the lower left. Both species are of enormous conservation and cultural importance to Seychelles. The note bears the text 'Central Bank of Seychelles' in English and 'L'a Bank Santral Sesel' in Seychellois Creole, along with 'Dis Roupi' (Ten Rupees).

History

This 10 rupees note belongs to the 2013 series issued by the Central Bank of Seychelles, which replaced the previous 1998–2005 series. The 2013 series introduced upgraded security features including enhanced holographic patches, color-shifting elements, and improved see-through registration devices to combat counterfeiting. The Seychelles rupee (SCR) has been the national currency since 1914, initially tied to the British pound and later to various pegs before floating in 2008. The 2013 redesign maintained the traditional focus on endemic flora and fauna that has characterized Seychellois banknotes since independence, emphasizing the nation's unique biodiversity and commitment to environmental conservation. The serial number format 'BD 7287805' and 'AE027497' visible on front and back respectively appear mismatched, which is unusual and may indicate a scanning/cataloging error or that these are images from different notes.
