This 100,000 Turkish Lira note belongs to the Sixth Emission Group (L.1970 series), issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey during a period of severe hyperinflation that required progressively higher denominations. The reference to '14 OCAK 1970 TARİH VE 1211 SAYILI KANUNA GÖRE ÇIKARILMIŞTIR' printed on the note indicates this series was authorized under Law No. 1211 dated 14 January 1970, which established the legal framework for currency issuance. However, notes of this denomination and design were actually printed and circulated in the 1990s, when inflation necessitated such high face values. The old Turkish Lira underwent continuous devaluation throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, culminating in the 2005 currency reform that introduced the New Turkish Lira (Yeni Türk Lirası, YTL) at a rate of 1 YTL = 1,000,000 old TRL, effectively removing six zeros.
