History

This note belongs to the 1944 provisional issue (P-50), the first currency series of the Democratic Federal Yugoslavia (later renamed Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1945–1946). These notes were issued during the final phase of World War II and the immediate postwar period, replacing occupation currencies and older Kingdom of Yugoslavia notes. The series was designed to serve the newly liberated territories and reflected the partisan movement's victory. The multilingual inscriptions (Latin and Cyrillic Serbo-Croatian, Slovenian, Macedonian) emphasized the federal nature of the new state composed of six socialist republics. The 10 Dinara denomination was one of the lower values in this series, which ranged from 1 to 1000 Dinara. This currency remained in circulation through various reforms until being replaced by subsequent dinar revaluations, with final demonetization occurring during the 1960s reforms. The designer signatures include 'M. PETROVIĆ FEC.' and 'B. KOCMUT SC.' visible at the bottom of the front.
