Where & when
What's on the note
Front: The head office building of Bank Indonesia in Jakarta, the central bank's headquarters. The neoclassical structure has served as the symbol of Indonesia's monetary authority since the nation's independence. The building represents modern Indonesian financial infrastructure and national sovereignty.
Back: Lamin traditional house of East Kalimantan (Rumah Adat Kalimantan Timur), a distinctive longhouse architecture of the Dayak people. These elevated wooden structures with steep roofs are communal dwellings that can house multiple families and represent the indigenous cultural heritage of Borneo. The Lamin is among the most recognizable traditional house forms in the Indonesian archipelago.

Background & history
This note belongs to the 1992 series of Indonesian rupiah notes issued by Bank Indonesia, which introduced updated designs featuring regional traditional houses (rumah adat) from across the archipelago on the reverse sides. The series circulated through the 1990s and into the 2000s, spanning the period of rapid economic growth, the 1997–98 Asian financial crisis, and the post-Suharto reform era. These notes were gradually withdrawn and replaced by the 1998–2000 series, with final demonetization occurring in 2010.
