Where & when
What's on the note
Front: Bab-e-Khyber, the gate at the Khyber Pass near Peshawar, marking the historic entrance to the Indian subcontinent through the Hindu Kush mountains. The Khyber Pass has been strategically and historically significant for millennia as a trade and invasion route connecting Central Asia with South Asia. The fort structure shown features characteristic battlements and towers typical of Mughal-era frontier fortifications.
Back: Muhammad Ali Jinnah (1876–1948), founder of Pakistan and its first Governor-General, universally known in Pakistan as Quaid-e-Azam (Great Leader). A barrister by training, Jinnah led the All-India Muslim League and the Pakistan Movement, successfully advocating for the creation of an independent Muslim state that became Pakistan in 1947. He is the most honoured figure on Pakistani currency and appears on virtually all Pakistani banknotes since independence.

Background & history
This 10 Rupees note belongs to the series issued by the State Bank of Pakistan from the mid-1980s through the 1990s, replacing earlier designs. The P-39 series features Jinnah on the reverse (right side when viewing back) and various Pakistani landmarks on the front. The Bab-e-Khyber gate symbolizes Pakistan's northwestern frontier heritage and the Pashtun regions. Serial number format 'AAC0440775' with letter prefix 'AAC' is consistent with Pakistani printing practices of the era. This design was eventually replaced by updated security-feature versions and newer series in the early 2000s. The note was printed by Pakistan Security Printing Corporation (PSPC) at their Karachi facility.
