The note depicts Newton with astronomical diagrams and the solar system, referencing his Principia Mathematica and his work at the Royal Mint. He was the first scientist to appear on a Bank of England note, chosen to represent British achievement in science.

Back: Britannia, the classical female personification of Great Britain, seated with trident and shield bearing the Union Flag.
