What's on the note
Front: Allegorical female head representing the Brazilian Republic, depicted in profile facing left within an oval frame. This classical representation with flowing hair and ornamental details has been a recurring motif on Brazilian currency since the proclamation of the Republic in 1889, symbolizing liberty, civic virtue, and national sovereignty. The figure embodies the republican ideals that replaced the imperial regime.
Back: Banco Central do Brasil headquarters building in Brasília, the modernist capital designed by Oscar Niemeyer and Lúcio Costa. The building represents the institutional authority of Brazil's central bank, established in 1964 to replace the Superintendency of Money and Credit (SUMOC). The neoclassical facade with columns reflects the architectural style of government buildings in the planned capital.

Background & history
Second Cruzeiro series, issued 1970–1986 by the Banco Central do Brasil during a period of military rule and economic modernization. The Cruzeiro (BRZ) was reintroduced in 1970 after the short-lived Cruzeiro Novo (1967–1970), which had replaced the original Cruzeiro at 1000:1. This second Cruzeiro circulated during Brazil's 'economic miracle' years and subsequent debt crisis, before being replaced by the Cruzado in 1986 at 1000:1 as part of the Plano Cruzado anti-inflation package. The 1 Cruzeiro was the lowest denomination of this series.
