Where & when
What's on the note
Front: The Chiremba Balancing Rocks, a natural geological formation near Harare consisting of three precariously balanced granite boulders that have become a national symbol of Zimbabwe. These rocks appear on the Zimbabwean coat of arms and represent the delicate balance between development and environmental preservation. The formation is part of the Epworth Balancing Rocks site and has stood for millennia through natural erosion patterns. The note displays traditional Ndebele shield patterns and the denomination 'ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS' alongside the date 'HARARE 2020'.
Back: The same Chiremba Balancing Rocks formation shown from a different angle, with the denomination stated as 'TEN TRILLION DOLLARS' (10000000000000). This dual-denomination note was issued during Zimbabwe's hyperinflation crisis when the Reserve Bank redenominated the currency multiple times. The back includes the serial number AA0772887 in red prefix letters and the signature of Governor Dr. G. Gono, who served during the hyperinflation period.

Background & history
This is a rare dual-denomination note from Zimbabwe's hyperinflation period, printed with both '100 Dollars' on the front (dated 'HARARE 2020' as a future-dated note) and '10 Trillion Dollars' on the back (dated 'HARARE 2008'). This represents the Fourth Zimbabwe Dollar (ZWL), issued 2008-2009 during the peak of hyperinflation when monthly inflation rates exceeded 79.6 billion percent. The Reserve Bank repeatedly redenominated the currency, removing zeros: the first redenomination in August 2006 (1000:1), second in August 2008 (10 billion:1), and third in February 2009 (1 trillion:1). By April 2009, the Zimbabwe Dollar was abandoned in favor of foreign currencies. The currency was officially demonetized in 2015, with holders allowed to exchange ZWL balances at negligible rates. Governor Dr. Gideon Gono (2003-2013) oversaw the entire hyperinflation period. Pick P-91 specifically refers to the 100 Dollar note of this series; the 'Ten Trillion' overprint or redenomination variant may have a different or unassigned Pick number. The Chiremba Balancing Rocks have appeared on Zimbabwean currency since the Rhodesian era and symbolize the nation's geological heritage.
