What's on the note
Front: Japanese military occupation currency (Gunpyo) issued for use in occupied China during World War II. The note features the denomination 50 sen (五拾銭) in central vertical Chinese/Japanese characters, flanked by Arabic numerals '50' on both sides. Background & history
This is Japanese Military Yen (軍票, gunpyō), occupation currency issued by Imperial Japan for use in occupied China during the Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II (1937-1945). These notes were designed to replace local currencies and extract economic value from occupied territories while preserving Japan's domestic currency reserves. After Japan's surrender in 1945, all military currency became worthless and was demonetized. The 50 sen denomination was a fractional unit (100 sen = 1 yen). These notes are relatively common among collectors due to the large quantities printed during the occupation.

How it came to me
Significant wear, soiling, and age toning throughout. Multiple folds and creases visible. Paper shows foxing and discoloration consistent with age and circulation during wartime.
